There are a lot of newbies, who would like to take care of their customers themselves. Problem is most of the issues that can be solved by an experienced person in 10 minutes will take an hour or more for a non-technical person. This will leave a bad impression for a startup hosting company.
It's pretty easy to tell a client that you will help them save money and avoid disasters by being proactive. It's also pretty easy to tell them they can focus on their core business while you take care of "IT". And it's really easy to tell them that "managed tech support I.T" is far superior to "break/fix". Generally, these are all true!
Hands-on tech support I.T service is expensive to provide long term. Hint: Dell, HP and eMachine are investing millions in low-cost "over the phone" help desk support. They are not hiring as many "boots on the ground" technicians as before. This means that when you do get a problem that requires a little hands-on work, you go on a long waiting list.
Go to start, the little button in the lower left hand side of your computer, in most instances. Now Managed I.T support uttah click on run. Type in "msconfig". You will see several options. Normal startup, Diagnostic startup, and Selective startup. We are going to be selective today and from now on, so click selective.
All kidding aside, using a service like Oovoo is stupidly simple. You setup an account for yourself. Then you're listed in the Oovoo community as available - others can click on your listing and request to be connected. But your video doesn't have to be with another Oovoo member. You can just send an email with a link to your invitee. He clicks on the link and right away he's seeing you through his computer's browser. If he's got a video camera on his computer you're seeing him too.
I formatted the drive, wiping everything off of it, went to the "backup" utility that appears when the C-Drive Icon is right clicked, and hit ENTER. The entire C-Drive copied itself on my external drive just as if it were a memory stick. It took 5 mins to set up, and was there the whole time. DUH.
